We have experience with not only a large number of client pets over the years, but with an immense variety of temperaments within each class of pets. Maine Coon cats, for example, have common behavior traits as do Golden Retrievers and Labradors. Knowing these traits help us better respond to and provide for the needs of pets within a breed while still looking for individual unique personality traits.
We always require a getting-acquainted visit (free) so your pet can get a bit familiar with us and you can have a chance for a one-on-one with us. When you go on your trip or leave for work, and we make our first visit, your kitty or dog will usually be a bit unsure, naturally. In recognition of that, we take our time to let your pet get used to us, to find that we are to be trusted, especially since there can be treats involved, and walks, and dinner and petting. Some pets do not want, or need, physical attention, which we read in their body language and behavior, so we provide the care that they want and need. For example, Smokey, a beautiful black and white cat, and I have a very nice gentlemanly kind of relationship. He gets his Greenies and wet food, a brief pet, then off he goes on his own to stare out the window at birds and to use the litter box. His "brother" Hobbes is the opposite, needs tons of petting and reassurance and mega-play time with one of his favorite toys.
Our staff members, Karen, Ann, Sarah, Gail, Amy, Erika, Lauren, Patrice, Kate, Diane (pet sitting & training) and Trish (training), are mature, experienced and loving, most having rescue pets of their own, and all together have logged and are logging many hours of volunteer work with animals. Look at "Our Staff" page for more about each of them.
